They share a common identifier, and always have the same set of fields. But there are amendments, omissions and additions made between snapshots that can only be detected by comparing records against each other. What’s the fastest way to loop through a fresh snapshot and compare it against the previous snapshot for changes, additions and omissions?

Below is a roughed out Python routine I’ve written with a fake data set. Basically, it sets the unique ID as the key to a dictionary that contains what amounts to a CSV DictReader pull from two imaginary CSV files: one with the older “existing” snapshot; and another with the newer “fresh” snapshot.

It seems to work okay in testing, but when you run it over a large data set, it goes pretty darn slow. I’m curious whether anyone here knows a way I can make it run quicker.

UPDATE: I’ve taken Jeremy’s advice below and tried to experiment with Python’s difflib. One method I stumbled into was replacing my list-comprehension based “is_diff” function above with the following.

I have a one web page and i don’T want to refresh whole page refresh when a form is submitted. So i am using jquery to do this.

Everthing is ok when the first form is sumbitted. Page did not refreshed. But Result of the first form generates a page which contains another form. Third one is so also..

And trying to figure out how to replicate the pulldown menus that allow a user to look at population changes by individual race categories. The tutorial overall is so comprehensive, but there’s not hint as to how to create that little menu switcher.

Is there any way I can modify the size of the icons (the circle points) on a google map? I’m plotting icons for adresses of nyc facility buildings and want to visibly indicate a bed to population ratio of each building by the size of the icon.

I am admin for www.livestream.com/occupyunity as well as a producer for several other livestream channels that have to do with the occupy movement.

Here’s the problem.  We have a person that is not a moderator on any of the channels that I admin/produce for.  He/She has found a way to hack into the chat application (flash based) to avoid bans, and creates all sorts of disruption in the various channels.  (Mind you it’s not just our channels, but every channel that has to do with Occupy that he attacks.)  What I need to do is find out what he is using (I suspect a script kiddy) to do this so that I can help the programmers at livestream to close the hole that allows it.
