Which code works best for creation of multimedia gallery

1

I have been testing various lightbox code for a way to make galleries that combine video, html and photo content, but am having difficulty finding code that’s both cross-browser compatible (must work in IE6), and works well with these various media types.
I tested Shadowbox, but had problem with the html content not popping up correctly, though this seems closest to what I am looking for.

  1. Testing Shadowbox and Colorbox, the other lightboxes seem to be mostly photo oriented and no good for video.

  2. Can you give us a list of other lightbox solutions you’ve tried, so we don’t recommend something that doesn’t already work?

I haven't tried this, but it looks like it meets your requirements: PrettyPhoto. Does video Flash and iframes in addition to photo, claims to support IE6.

  1. Thanks! Looks promising … except it is giving webpages a black background in Firefox. Ach, always something to troubleshoot!

I will run some demos next week and let you know how it goes.

I love the functionality and documentation of the jQuery TOOLS stuff. The demo stuff isn't always the easiest to get your head around but greatly customizable and cross-platform.

  1. Thanks Dave, looks like Toolbox could be of great help – and I love the effects for Expose. I have used accordion widget from jQuery TOOLS before and found it easy to work with, I will definitely be investigating this code further!

I don't know about pretty lightboxes and what-what, but somebody went and mentioned Stijn Debrouwere and the importance of collecting extra data and my media gallery ended up looking like this.
